As a certified Authentic Self Empowerment Facilitator and HNLP Coach with a BA in Psychological Counselling, I work with people who want to heal from trauma and empower women who want to live life better
I help people to work through traumatic experiences, whether they are recent or long past.
A traumatic event is often life-changing and leaves people feeling vulnerable and out of control. They are looking to recover some sense of normality within themselves and their lives.
I help them to tap into their courage to reclaim their power, discover their new normal and move forward with a sense of peace and hope for the future.
I work with women who feel that they are falling short of how they want to show up in their life.
They are unsure of how or where they need to make changes so that they can live life better. They want to find the things that ignite their passion and inspire them to create and achieve big dreams.
I help them to gain clarity, shape their vision and create a personalised roadmap that allows them to step into their lives with authenticity and confidence.
Hi, I'm Michelle, and I would love to help you to build your life the way YOU want it to be!
I am an insightful, intuitive and compassionate trauma and self-empowerment coach who firmly believes that everyone deserves to live life well. You can create and live a life of your choosing, on your terms and at your own pace.
What does this actually mean? I know how to help you to work through and process trauma so that you can step back into your life with a renewed sense of self and purpose. I know how to help you to move from a place of just surviving to a place where you can THRIVE.
I am a storyteller at heart, and believe strongly in the power of storytelling. That is why storytelling forms the foundation of my coaching approach.
Using my ability to clearly see the heart of the problem, my understanding of how our brains work along with my interpersonal, analytical and strategic skills, I take your story and help you to fill in the blanks, understand and navigate the twists and turns and carefully craft a vision for the future.
And then I help you to create a personalised and authentic roadmap to show you how and when to take the specific action that will allow you to step away from the effects of a trauma and overcome any challenges or limitations so that you can step into your vision for yourself with confidence.
Where it all began….
It should come as no surprise, considering my love of stories, that I started out working in public relations and feature writing. After a few years of corporate work, I opened my own writing and public relations business and ended up also collaborating with and working within the family graphic design and publishing businesses.
For more than 10 years, I loved juggling the deadlines and demands of the job. I thrived on the variety of the work and the challenges that running a business entails. But there came a time when this changed for me.
The passion was starting to fade and I began to feel like I was meant for something different. I wanted to do something more. I felt unfulfilled.
So, I decided to make a change....
Ever since I can remember, I have always enjoyed helping people figure stuff out and work through life events. So when, in my early adulthood, my fiancé died in a tragic car accident, it was during my grief journey that I uncovered my passion and calling to help others who had experienced a trauma, particularly traumatic bereavement.
I joined the Douglasdale Trauma Support Unit as a volunteer lay counsellor and helped many people who had been affected by crime traumas such as armed robbery and hijacking and other traumatic events such as vehicle accidents and suicide. I later became a co-ordinator of the unit until it disbanded.
During this time, I also registered to study psychology. After 15 years of on and off studying, I finally completed my BA degree in Psychological Counselling. A true testament to the saying that perseverance pays off!
While psychology and helping people has always been an interest and passion, when I came across the concept of coaching, it was love at first sight. I have seen coaching help people achieve amazing transformations in relatively short periods of time.
For me, coaching is a more dynamic process and future focussed than traditional counselling and it’s this constant forward thrust with clear and measurable actions that makes it so powerful.
This was what I wanted to do. I wanted to help people do more, be more and live more. This was the shift I was looking for. So, I wrapped up my business interests, completed HNLP coach training as well as qualifying as an Authentic Self-Empowerment Facilitator and Practitioner of Ericksonian Hypnotherapy.
And have since been helping people to work through trauma and make meaningful changes in their lives through my coaching packages and workshops.
In 2017, my infant son passed away at just three weeks old due to a rare virus-related complication. Helping bereaved parents to navigate their way through their loss has become a special and meaningful area of coaching for me.
Where I am today
Coaching was a side hustle for a while, in between slowly extricating myself from my public relations business, having children and looking after my family.
But I have now finally, fully, stepped into my role as a full-time trauma recovery and self-empowerment coach.
It’s very exciting as this feels like a perfect fit for me. Its work that makes my heart happy and my soul feel fulfilled.
I am now able to use my coaching and psychology skills that I have spent the last number of years studying and honing, and combine them with everything I learnt from running multiple businesses to help you move past trauma and blocks to create a life that you would love to live.
Even better, I'm getting the chance to really help people.
It’s amazing to look back and see just how much I have accomplished and worked through in my life – the grief, the challenges, the setbacks. But now my heart is so full that I am in this space, doing something that I love, on my own terms and at my own pace. It doesn’t get much better than this.
My personal journey has taught me so much, and I am grateful for the lessons - even the ones that brought me to my knees - because they have given me so much insight and knowledge that I can now share with you.
You don’t have to go it alone, and you don’t have to struggle to make the change you need in your life.
My purpose in life
I am here to show you how you CAN live authentically, in a life you choose to create, from a position of choice.
I am an absolute believer in living your life for YOU and not based on the expectations or opinions or wishes of others. Or on what you think you should be doing.
I also believe, absolutely, that while your trauma and/or challenges may shape you and influence the way in which you view the world and the people in it, they don’t have to define you or limit how you live your life.
Trauma and challenges don’t deserve to have the power to prevent you from living well..
With my practical tips, step-by-step action plans, and straight talk, I love helping people like you to create a life that you love.
